One Month In....
I am having to take the day off today because my youngest has ran a fever of 102-103 all weekend. So I will go into the office with all four kids just long enough to pay the bills and make the daily deposit. While I wait on the doctor's office to open to try to get him in, I thought I would take a moment to vent. This weekend passed made one month ago that the work on my house should have been done. They managed to get the roof and shed done..(she is missing the shelf)...but built. In four days time, week before last, two little white boys set one post for my porch to be extended. Then at 2:30 on Friday,3 Mexican men showed up and set all the posts, did the wrap around and then framed up the drop down extension. And mind you, I am by far not prejudice, I just want to make sure it is clear the work effort that is put forth by different people. I do think that we may have had things a little too easy and not be aware of how hard some actually had to work to get somewhere long before us. Anyway, that is a rant for another day. So they come back on Saturday and put the decking boards down for the octagon drop down. They left saying they would be back Sunday to do the steps and rails. One week ago Sunday. Well, I am still waiting for someone to come finish. The contractor who subbed them out says that they all went to eat Sunday morning and had gotten Salmonella poisoning from the local Western Sizzlin. Possible.... SO he says that they will be back to work Friday. Well, on Saturday he text me to say that they will be here Monday. I don't think I should get my hopes up that they will actually show today. They still have to do the steps, railing, two tree benches, put in a light, and change a pipe for the sewer exhaust. Think it will be done today? LOL probably not. They have their money. Since the insurance company made the check out to both of us, the only way to do it was sign it and let them cash it. My bank wouldn't let me cash it unless he was there, but his would. SOOOO, they have $7600 while I have a mess in my yard still. Guess we will see what today holds. I am sure they did not expect that I would be sitting at home with a sick child, knowing that they had not shown yet.
